Backyard Committee, Eula, Oh, Cassius! Among Bands Playing 3rd Emerge Fest

Oh, Cassius!

Oh, Cassius!

Without discounting the importance of the bands themselves, it’s fair to say that Chip McCabe has played a major role in building momentum for the local music scene in Connecticut, through “Chip’s Unnamed Local Band Show” when he still worked for CT1 Media, and also the CT Music Awards and Emerge Festival, which returns March 6-7 at The Space in Hamden for its third incarnation.

Brooklyn band Eula will headline on Friday, March 6, which will also double as an album-release show for the former New Haven group’s latest, “Wool Sucking.” Other Friday acts include Heather Fay, the Meadows Brothers, Lizzienrose, Space Orphans and Funky Dawgz Brass Band. The Backyard Committee anchors the bill on Saturday, March 7, along with Oh, Cassius!, Political Animals, Straight to VHS and Laundry Day.

After raising money the past two years to help Connecticut bands tour, proceeds from Emerge Festival this year will go to Interval House in Hartford, an organization that offers support to victims of domestic violence.

The rest of the lineup, and ticket information, is expected to be available next week.
