Cameron Stenger gives away wistful single 'Come Home'

Upstate New York singer and songwriter Cameron Stenger is said to have described his debut LP, “Lovers,” as “a big explanation to someone I have loved.”

Sounds like it was a thorough explanation, delivered through spare songs that exert a strong pull. Stenger makes downhearted pop, singing in wistful tones over close, intimate arrangements built mostly around acoustic guitar, with accents here and there from electric guitar and piano.

It’s particularly powerful on “Come Home,” a free song from the album. Stenger fingerpicks a melancholy pattern on guitar, his voice a resonant murmur on lyrics that seem to cross back and forth over the line between waking and dreaming.

“Lovers” is due April 24. Hear more of the album via bandcamp.
