The Don'ts and Be Carefuls drum up buzz for summery EP

“Summery” is an adjective frequently used to describe The Don’ts and Be Carefuls — all the more reason to embrace the Denver band’s new EP, given that winter seems to already be clutching at wide swaths of the U.S.

The foursome, formed in 2008, is giving away two of the seven songs on “Sun Hits.” The tunes are jaunty, energetic and absolutely prone to getting stuck in your head: just listen to the massive wave of guitar that comes surging over the chugging bass and bouncy keyboard line on “The Still Favorites,” or the spirals of guitar chasing the wordless vocal refrain on the title track.

“Sun Hits” came out in September on Hot Congress Records.
