Missouri band Ha Ha Tonka gives away mp3, tours in support of second album

Casting Ha Ha Tonka in the role of “the competition” to Kings of Leon (a la Blurt magazine) is a tall order. But it kinda fits.

The Springfield, Mo., band has that same rough-hewn, foot-stompin’ rock ‘n’ roll vibe that characterized the first two Kings of Leon records, and guitarist Brian Roberts even sings as though he’s keen not to lose a little pocket of syrup tucked away in one cheek on “Hold My Feet to the Fire.” The song is from Ha Ha Tonka’s second album, “Novel Sounds of the Noveau South,” which came out last month on Bloodshot.
