Hooray for Earth joins tour with Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Surfer Blood

Call it the darlings of indie-pop tour: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart hit the road with Surfer Blood this summer on an outing that starts June 3 in Milford, Conn., and the hipster kids are all aflutter. But there are three bands on the bill: Hooray for Earth holds down the opening spot. They’re worth showing up early to see.

Formed in Boston and now centered in New York, Hooray for Earth makes dreamy, atmospheric pop with drowsy vocals, soaring swaths of synthesizers and occasional squalls of guitar. The band releases the EP “Momo” June 1 on Dovecote Records, and offers a preview with the wistful free song “Surrounded by Your Friends.”
