Twin Cities' The Idle Hands gives away song from forthcoming EP, due March 1

Socialites: what parasites, right? Anyone? Ah, The Idle Hands, thank you.

The Minneapolis band, formed around a pair of English-born brothers, sticks it to those stuck-up preeners on “Socialite Death Squad,” the free song from the group’s new EP, “Life is Beautiful!” It’s catchy and a little jagged, with bright guitars, pulsing bass and a disco-ready beat as singer Ciaran Daly sings in a confident drawl.

Hmm. What if they’re actually talking about a death squad composed of socialites? It’s possible we’ve been thinking about this all wrong. Either way, “Life is Beautiful!” is out March 1, and The Idle Hands performs later in March at SXSW. We will be there.
