Norfolk & Western offers online stream of new album, 'Dinero Severo'

Portland, Ore., indie-rock band Norfolk & Western has finished its new album, and you can hear it for free for a limited time on the group’s website, provided you cough up an e-mail address for newsletter purposes. (Eager listeners may need to be patient: it took a few hours before Listen, Dammit, received the e-mail with log-in information.)

The album, “Dinero Severo,” follows Norfolk & Western’s lovely, lushly orchestrated 2006 record “The Unsung Colony.” The band recorded the news songs over the past several years in Portland and Puerto de Santa Maria in Spain. “See, not only the fancy bands get to eat Manchego, drink copious amounts of Spanish wine and roam the beaches where Columbus set sail to discover India,” the group posits on its website.

No word yet when the album will see an official release, but you can stream it through October as Norfolk & Western heads out on tour with Mirah.
