After 20 years and eight studio albums with Wilco, leader Jeff Tweedy steps out this fall with “Sukierae,” a solo album he recorded with his 18-year-old son Spencer on drums. The duo, called Tweedy and augmented live by Jim Elkington on guitar, Darin Gray on bass and Liam Cunningham on guitar and keyboards, is extending a run of tour dates to include the Calvin Theatre in Northampton on Sept. 27.

The live shows so far have come in two parts, with the first featuring full-band songs from “Sukierae,” followed by a solo-acoustic set of Jeff playing songs from the Wilco catalog. “Sukierae,” a two-disc, 20-song album that includes “Summer Noon” (video below), is due Sept. 23 on Wilco’s dBpm Records. Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe from Lucius contributed backing vocals  to album, and Scott McCaughey of the Minus 5 and the Baseball Project added keyboard parts.

Tickets for Tweedy at the Calvin go on sale Friday, Aug. 8, for $49.50 and $39.50 through the Northampton Box Office.
