Don’t let the name fool you ā Yuck is anything but.
With a scant year of experience, the British band just signed to Fat Possum, which will release Yuck’s yet-to-be-titled debut early next year. In the meantime, though, the band releases the catchy single “Georgia” Nov. 23.
The song wraps wistful male-female vocal harmonies in a blanket of crumbly fuzz-tone guitars brightened by tambourine and propelled along by big, round bass and a steady backbeat.
Yuck has another single out Nov. 1, on the Pharmacy Recording Company. Built around droning, spiky guitar and distorted vocals, “Rubber” is less effervescent than “Georgia,” but together, the songs give a reasonable pictures of the Yuck sound.
