The Von Ehrics blend punk, country on rollicking tunes

While we’re on the subject of punk-country (and we were, just the other day, with Lydia Loveless), let’s consider the Von Ehrics.

The Texas foursome has been making music for more than a decade, which means 10-plus years worth of pounding super-charged rockabilly beats, walls of snarly guitar and a certain drawling, whiskey-soaked insolence. In other words, awesome.

The band’s latest album, “Two Foot Stomp,” came out in April. Though we just found out about these guys, better late than never, particularly given the streaming song, “Down the Road Tonight,” which crams in references to Hooters, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Slayer. Check it out:
